Re: Welcome messages and comments about the forum

Hi Pete,

Welcome to the forum and I am glad you are venturing into this fascinating field! I hope your photography works out well and I guess being a little biased, I think Canon is a good brand.

Re: August 7-8 NSW Storms

Michael,

The storm above also went through parts of the Hunter. I can assume that most storms on this day based on the atmospheric profile would have produced hailstones – but copious amounts would have been limited to the stronger storms.

Re: August 7-8 NSW Storms

Nice images of the lightning and storm structure – may we declare the storm season open 2011 to 2012.

I too a few images – one storm I found quite nicely structured in terms of updraft and anvils for this time of the year.

Re: Backing vs veering

Hi Michael Thomas,

I used digital atmosphere many years ago but never got much going with it at that time but it is a pretty good program. I have never really plotted much else, I tend to use models myself.

Re: Close Lightning , Poland

Nice lightning strike Nick. I also note the internal reflection within the video camera that causes an abberation of a secondary strike as we have seen in the past when people thought they had been struck by lightning:)

Re: 20th January 2005 – Storm outbreak

HI Michael,

Thanks for the reminder of the videos. Why not get Pintang to offer his feelings of the storm. Patrack Tobin's cell was interesting but was it a different storm?

Re: Tornadoes Devastating tornado in Joplin, Missouri

Hi Nick,

You bet Nick – the sparks at the end are amazing!

You need to watch the whole video or perhaps the last 1 minute of video!

Eeast coast low nsw 17th 18th July 2011

Interesting event shaping up for eastern nsw over the next couple of days. The bureau have damaging winds in warnings and local Terry Hills radar has a SSE rain band streaming in well into the mountains edging slowly towered Sydney. We'll see what unfolds.
